General Manager Michael K. Stacks keeps a handle on a sizable F&B operation at Indian Hills Country Club in Kansas City, MO.

High praise for a decade of AccuBar use

AccuBar has been around going on 15 years. Our competitors try to use that fact against us, but Michael K. Stacks has saved a lot of time and money by having us in his country club for much of our existence.

“The AccuBar system has enabled us to cut the process of monthly inventory by half,” says Michael, who is the general manager for Indian Hills Country Club in Kansas City. “The accuracy it provides for banquets and the immediate cost calculation at the end of the event has proved to be beneficial in improving our cash flow. The cost price is updated and accurate due to the ordering and purchasing recorded at each delivery. Our cost percentages dropped 7% the first year and continue to stay within budget over the last 10 years using the system.”

Indian Hills has a lot going on, so it would be difficult to stay on top of it all without wise use of technology. The club has four banquet rooms (500 total seats), four a la carte dining rooms (250 total seats), a Pool Bar, Half House and Men’s Locker Room Bar. Total beverage revenue is $1 million per year across seven different bar venues.

The AccuBar system has singlehandedly improved the industry in the area of cost control and inventory record keeping over any other invention that I have worked with over the last 35 years in the business.

They use AccuBar at the beginning and end of each banquet, along with ordering and receiving, and monthly inventories at each outlet. They are now exploring using the system to track bar supply inventory and food.

The smartphone app has also been a big step forward for them, Michael said. “[It] helps with having the ability to record inventory in several locations by several managers. In the past we would have to use the one device and it took several hours, where now it takes half the time.”

In a decade of using the system, he has also seen many managers come and go, but AccuBar helps with that transition. “The support team has been helpful and encouraging to new managers learning the system over the years. Turnover in management is expected and it is nice to have AccuBar support available to guide them through the system and the processes,” Michael said.

“The AccuBar system has single-handedly improved the industry in the area of cost control and inventory record keeping over any other invention that I have worked with over the last 35 years in the business,” Michael added.
